About Carmen
“Committed to supporting great relationships and fulfilling lives.”

"Over the years I have learned that people don't seek therapy because something is wrong with them. They seek therapy because they are carrying pain, uncertainty, loss or challenges that have become difficult to manage alone. My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate space where healing and meaningful change can occur."

Helping People Create Meaningful Change, Healing and Connection
I believe that every person has an innate capacity for growth, healing and transformation.
Life's challenges can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain or stuck in patterns that no longer serve us. Whether you are facing personal difficulties, relationship challenges, grief, anxiety, loss, or a significant life transition, psychotherapy can provide a space for understanding, healing and change.
For more than 30 years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and couples as they navigate life's complexities and move toward greater wellbeing, resilience and fulfilment.
My role is not to tell you what to do. Rather, it is to provide a safe, compassionate and collaborative space where you can explore your experiences, deepen self-understanding, and discover new possibilities for living and relating.
My Approach
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing occurs through authentic human connection.
I strive to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel genuinely heard, respected and understood. Together we explore the experiences, emotions, beliefs and relationship patterns that may be contributing to distress, while building on your existing strengths and resources.
My approach integrates contemporary psychotherapy, attachment theory, neuroscience, mindfulness, relational therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Whether we are working individually or as a couple, my aim is to help you develop greater emotional awareness, strengthen resilience, improve relationships and create meaningful and lasting change.
Professional Background
I am a Clinical Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Educator with extensive experience working across a range of therapeutic settings.
Over the course of my career I have worked with individuals, couples, families, health professionals and organisations, supporting people through personal challenges, relationship difficulties, loss, trauma, life transitions and professional development.
My commitment to ongoing learning and professional excellence has led me to undertake advanced training in psychotherapy, neuroscience and relationship therapy.
Areas of Interest and Expertise
My work includes supporting people experiencing:
-
Anxiety and stress
-
Depression and emotional distress
-
Grief and loss
-
Relationship and communication difficulties
-
Trauma and attachment wounds
-
Life transitions and adjustment challenges
-
Personal growth and self-development
-
Professional burnout
-
Meaning, purpose and spiritual exploration
I also have a particular interest in helping couples strengthen emotional connection, improve communication and rebuild trust through Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Working With Couples
Relationships are central to our wellbeing.
When couples become caught in cycles of conflict, withdrawal, misunderstanding or emotional distance, it can be difficult to find a way forward.
As a Certified EFT Couples Therapist, I help couples understand the patterns that keep them stuck, reconnect emotionally, and create stronger, more secure relationships.
My approach is compassionate, practical and grounded in one of the most effective evidence-based models of couples therapy available today.
Beyond Qualifications
While professional training and experience are important, I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the most significant factors in successful therapy.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my warmth, authenticity, insight and ability to create a space where they feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences and emotions.
I consider it a privilege to accompany people on their journey toward healing, growth and greater self-understanding.
And...
when I'm not working, I'm a peaceful person who enjoys the company of friends, kayaking, tennis, being in nature, live music, and dancing. I have a special interest in meditation and studying the spiritual traditions of the world.
